On June 25, 2025, an amendment to the Repatriation Act and certain other acts was passed, introducing significant changes to repatriation and citizenship procedures.
What will the amendment bring
A limit of PLN 80,757,000per year for repatriation projects for 2025–2036 increased budgetary resources.
New stamp charges
PLN 1,669 – application for Polish citizenship granted by the President of the Republic of Poland;
PLN 1,000 – recognition as a Polish citizen by the voivode;
PLN 277 – confirmation of possession or loss of Polish citizenship.
The introduction of clear rules for the acquisition of Polish citizenship and recognition of citizenship by the voivode a significant improvement in the procedure.
A 6-month deadline has been set for resolving Polish citizenship cases no more endless waiting.
This amendment is an important step towards legal order and strengthening oversight in the area of repatriation and Polish citizenship. It strengthens the country's migration policy.
The act will enter into force on August 1, 2025.
